Christian Blogging

Becoming a Christian Blogger is committing to the calling of spreading the words that God has placed in you to write. Whether it’s to teach bible studying, to encourage others with biblical advice, or to become a motivational entrepreneur by the leading of Christ, your writings will touch people and will become a blessing!

Now the question is…..

Are you ready to begin a blog that you can use as a creative space to express your talents and gifts?

Yay! Here we go….

Today, I am going to show you the steps of how to start a blog on Bluehost. Bluehost is one of the most successful and well-known blogging platforms because of the affordability and superb customer service. Bluehost is actually the only platform WordPress recommends as a server.

[inbound_button font_size=”20″ color=”#10c9da” text_color=”#ffffff” icon=”” url=”https://gum.co/MKRCm” width=”” target=”_self”]By His Grace We Blog eBook[/inbound_button]

The pros of using Bluehost is that you will become a self-hosted site. Being a self hosted blogger is the best way to eventually monetize your blog. When self-hosted, you own your site and you are not as limited to what you want to do with your blog compared to using free blogging platforms. Your blog should become your own creative space that you can build relationships, plans, and live out visions on.

To get the newest deal out there with Bluehost, click on my link to Bluehost to get started.

Click here, to be directed to Bluehost main page:

Click “Get Started Now”.

You will be directed to choose a plan. The basic plan is the best choice for first starting up but you may need to upgrade as your blog grows. Bluehost allows you to upgrade at anytime.

Next you will enter your domain name (your blog’s website name) that you have chosen. Try to choose a name that will be easy to remember and will not be easily misspelled. The name should relate to your topic and niche. If you are transferring a blog over to Bluehost,  you will input in the “I have a domain name” box.

You will now add your account information and choose a package. First read about the other three options and what they provide for you and determine if you’d like to add those on as well. You can learn about those other options where it says “More Information”.

Your next step will be adding your payment information to get your blog up and running! You’re getting close! Simply add your card information, read the Terms of Agreement and check the box saying you did so. Then click submit.

Next, you will be brought to this screen where you will choose a password for your account. Click on the button “Create Your Password”.

Now you will enter your password information into these fields on the next page:

After you enter in your new password, you should see this pop up next:

Next, you will be directed to this page where you will have the option to look through themes for your website and choose one that you think would be a great fit for your blog.

Congratulations!

Once you choose a theme, you can officially begin building your brand new website! Click on “Start Building” to begin your blogging journey.

Your next step is the final step to officially have your blog up and running. This part of creating your blog is the going to be the easiest part of setting your blog up.

setting-up-wordpress

You will be directed to this window and can now begin setting up your WordPress site. Click on whether you want this to be a business or personal website and Bluehost will lead you through the steps to set up the kind of site you want.

You can now explore your admin dashboard! Your website, although active, will display a “Coming Soon” message until you click “Launch”. You can create pages like an “About Me” section and write your very first blog post if you’d like. The possibilities are endless!

Once you are ready to officially launch your website, click on the “Launch” button mentioned above and you will be directed to the screen below. Enter your site title and your site description.

You can also login into your Bluehost homepage (by going to bluehost.com and clicking “login”) which holds your blog email, all of your websites, the marketplace for options for your website, and live chat for easy access to customer support. Enjoy your brand new website!

Bluehost will now install WordPress on your server and let you know when the process is complete. You can login into your WordPress by going to:

    Hello Carmen,
I always feel guilty due to my belief and understanding that gratitude is key to growing in life, I came across your blog in late 2021, and your post on how to start a blog was an inspiration to start my blogging dreams @ https://manifestplan.com/ with your step-by-step guide.
I want to say thank you so much, and may the good Lord continue to bless you, hoping to grow like you.
Kindly take a look at my work @ https://manifestplan.com/ and I will appreciate your evaluation, observation, and comment for modification.
    Best regards.

This reply is going to be all over the place so forgive. I have been praying for months for God to show me a different path away from Speech Therapy.
I have a speech therapist for over 30 years. I never really fit in because of running my mouth too much or fighting too hard for my students or difficulty keeping up with paperwork.
Long story short, really short! God led me to you this morning!
I have a testimony out of this world and I want to share it with the world.

Bless you Carmen. I feel inspired.

Many Christians spend their entire lives searching for their calling, when it has in fact been staring them in the face ever since they were born. Spreading the gospel, His words, His life is every Christians calling and God given duty. After many years (decades) of reading scriptures, attending sermons, prayer and devotionals I have finally realised what I should have been doing.

I am His messenger. We are all His messengers.

The Bible tells us this so many times. We just overlook the obvious sometimes.

Bless you and thank you for sharing and inspiring.

Thanks for all the information. What a blessing.
I launched my blog a weak ago and I’m excited to see how God uses it.
I have been praying for years for direction on a ministry, and God was silent in that area.
About 3 months ago our pastor was preaching on how we could get involved. He mentioned that we could write a devotional, and that grabbbed my attention.
In the weeks that followed, God used that spark to ignite a flame.
I know that may sound corny, but it has been an incredible answer to prayer.
    God is so good!
    My site is neweverymorning.org
I’ve been wondering how to get the word out and found your site.
    Thanks again.

I just wanted to thank you for your blog post on starting your own Christian blog. I am currently going through the hardest point in my life and God seems to be pointing me to share it as I go- a direction I never would have taken on without His influence. http://www.mybrookcherith.com is the result- one post only at the moment, though I have a lot of material ready to be crafted into more. And it’s not pretty but I needed to put it out there. (It also took three days to get it off the temp domain!)

Anyhow, I found your post right away and it was so easy and helpful- I wanted you to know how grateful I am for it. I will certainly be looking into your other helpful posts as I refine my clunky first efforts.

    May God richly bless you,

    a fellow servant

Congratulations on your new blog!!! And what a blessing to see another fellow servant writing for the Lord!!! I love that you are still taking Gods leading even though you are enduring a hard time right now. This is probably where and when God will be using you mighty because of your obedience. I praise Him now for all that He is using you to do for His will!

I feel a little weird about this, but I felt the need to share! Today, I wanted to go to your site again and went through your blog posts and found this one again. I remember the day (a couple of months ago) when God told me I had to start a blog, like now, but I had literally NO idea how to start. So, I googled “How to start a Christian blog”. Lo and behold, I found this blog post, and I remember clicking on it and started freaking out. I knew this is what He wanted me to do and he confirmed it with the date you published it: September 11. It’s actually the day of my birthday! So, I decided not to hesitate anymore and started my blog that day (and night) with no looking back. Thank you, tremendously, for your passion to help other people not be afraid to start their own blog!

Oh Lianna, your words truly encouraged me and gave me confirmation too. I truly desire to do the will of God and help new bloggers with starting a blog that will be a ministry and a blog that is full of words to glorify His name. Thank you for your comment. Many blessings to you and your blog!

    Hello Carmen,

I am Na’omi and I will be starting my blog … soon. For a few weeks now I have felt it on my heart. As I think about how I reach this point, I am in awe of how God has been working on me for a while. Your blog has been very helpful in my desire to start a blog. So, Thank You! I have subscribed to you and have enjoyed reading everything I have read so far. In the above post you are walking us through how to get set up on Bluehost and Word Press, I also remember reading that we should write about 10 posts before we publish. Does this mean that we can have our domain set up and ready to go before we have content to publish? Will people be able to see our empty blogs before we publish? Also, I remember reading somewhere how often we should post, but I can’t find it now. What is your recommendation? I so want to get my started, but I feel like there is still so much I have to learn still. I don’t have By His Grace We Blog yet.

    Thank You,
    Na’omi Keith
